What is a VW Kombi?

Volkswagen Kombi – Kombi, from German: Kombinationskraftwagen (combination motor vehicle), with side windows and removable rear seats, both a passenger and a cargo vehicle combined. Bus, also called a Volkswagen Caravelle, a van with more comfortable interior reminiscent of passenger cars since the third generation. The Kombi was so much more than just a van. An icon that stood for road trips, hot summers and freedom.

The story starts in 1949. When Dutch businessman and pioneer Ben Pon pulled up his suspenders and hit the road with a sketch in hand, and a dream in tow. This single sketch was the beginning of a pretty wild adventure. Inspiring the design of the very first Kombi Van, as we know it today. With elements of the original T1 beetle design, combined with the room to move. The T2 Kombi has been called many things and has evolved more times than even we can count. But one thing has stayed the same, our love of adventure.

When do I need to pay the deposit? ​

To secure your booking a deposit of 50% of your total fee will be required. Any booking done within 28 days of the event requires 100% fee to secure your booking. The remaining 50% of your total fee is to be paid no less than 28 days before the date of the event.

What happens if I cancel my booking? ​

To share the beauty around and be fair to other Kombi users a fee of 50% of the booking cost applies to all cancellations. If you have pre-paid in full you will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made inside of four weeks of the booking date incur a charge of 100% of the total booking so there will be no refunds. In certain circumstances we may offer a part refund and part credit towards a future hire but this will be at our discretion.

 

Can I rent the Kombi for a photo or video shoot?

Yes you can! If you rent the bus as a photo booth for your event we’re happy to take a few minutes to accommodate you shooting with the bus to get some beautiful photos and video (as long as you share them with us, please!!). If you’d like to simply rent, outright for a shoot (not as a photo booth or transport ) please contact us for rates and to inquire!

What is the price of wedding transport?

Minimum price $600 / 4 hours. ( Additional  :  $150/hour  )

How long should we book for photo booth?

It really depends on how many crazy photo booth lovers there are
attending. A general rule of thumb is for 80-100 guests or less a 2 hour hire should be about right, for more than 100 guests we recommend 4 hours or more.

 

If my event is inside, does the photo booth in VW Kombi have to stay outside?

Not always! The photo booth in VW Kombi is about 1,720 mm wide, 2,000 mm tall, 4,505mm long so as long as we can fit in the door and get permission from the venue, we will be there!

We booked Queenstown Kombi as we are VW lovers. My partner back in the UK restores old Kombis so when we were planning our wedding here in NZ we knew we had to have one! Queenstown Kombi was the perfect choice when it came to wedding transport to and from the wedding but also giving guests a good bit of fun after the ceremony. Chika arrived on time, was friendly, prompt, and her communication was excellent. The Photo Booth was both professional, easy to use, and photos printed promptly!! It was the perfect addition to our day and we could not have been happy with the service, photos, and all around enjoyment we will get looking back on our day to see this kombi in the photos!
